My most beloved cousin

I want to say, thank you

Thank you for accepting the call of God upon your life

Thank you for staying strong

Thank you for keeping the faith

Thank you for waiting on Him

Thank you for the many lives you’ve influenced for Christ through your ministry

Including mine.

To me

Calling you my cousin feels distant

Because you’ve been so close and intentional in my life

You are not just my cousin

You’re my brother

You’re my friend

You’re my mentor

And I’ll forever thank God for you.

Thank you for being consistent in my life

Thank you for loving me selflessly

Thank you for accepting the call of God upon my life

Thank you for praying for me

Thank you for pastoring me

Thank you for receiving my calls late in the night

Thank you for being flexible in my favour

Thank you for modeling how a man ought to be

Thank you for being the man that you are.

Your faith, your love for God and His people deeply inspire me

I’ve told you this before (privately)

But today, allow me to honour you publicly,

Kelvin,

Know that I love you permanently

Know that you have a special place in my heart and no one can take it

Know that I got you in my prayers

Even during the silent days

Know that above all else,

You are truly special to God and His kingdom

And I’m happy that He’s bound us as family

I love you for all time!

May how we relate inspire our children and many generations to come

For God’s glory!

(Imagine this was written on a Saturday night past midnight…You know what that means…lol!)

Heart to Heart 1

One day I woke up and asked myself, is it worth the effort? It, here, referring to life. That day I felt like everything I had achieved was meaningless. I was clearly tired of the fight, I didn't have any more energy to live hard, to laugh heartily or love truly. All I knew I wanted was to quit!!! Yes, to completely let go of everything you can think or imagine of, Infact, top on my list was to delete all my accounts, I was just tired, and that question kept playing in my head, is it worth it? 

You could be at the same space I was, you look back and wander, do I really have to do this? Why does it have to be me? Can God use someone else? Is it worth it? 

Yes! It is! It's worth every sweat, every tear you cried, every hurt or pain. What God has called you and I to do, is worth it! I know it's tough, I know sometimes you just want to scream or run away, and that's okay, it happens to us all. 

So, that morning, I lazily got my phone from where it was and this was the first message I read

I look at you

And I am very proud of you

After so many battles and challenges you faced

Some lost and others defeated

But you have triumphed.

I believe you are a great warrior

A home keeper

A peace maker

You are standing there and with great faith

You are adorable and no one will bring you down 

Because God is the one who sustains you

My warrior friend.

These words shared by a dear friend were timely, I felt encouraged and inspired to keep on keeping on. Hey! Read those words again and again, remember, it is only God, who sustains you and I. You've come too far to quit. #GetYourFightBack!  #KeepPaintingYourWorld!

Dear Kenya,

How are you?

Well,

I know things have been rough…

I know you want to throw in the towel…

I know you are now doubting what I said,

“I have wonderful plans for you, plans to give you hope and a future”

But beloved,

You are beautiful!

I created you with very wonderful features

Look at the spectacular nature you got around you

Look at the wild, wild life!

Look at the amazing and diverse culture,

Kenya,

If you don’t remember anything else,

Know that,

You are beautiful!

Many others envy you

That’s why they come and stay

You are a warm nation

Your people are super gifted and hardworking

Yes! You are beautiful!

Not only in your physical features

But also,

In the soul of everyone in you.                                            

Kenyans,

You are loving,

You are kind,

You are patient,

You look out for each other,

You got each other’s back,

Basically,

You are human!

And that’s good enough!

Because, that is how I created you to be,

And even better…

Every time you sing your national anthem,

Oh my!

My heart throbs with joy

Those word are deep…

And I take them very seriously

I hope you do too

I am willing to answer your prayers,

Because I said, “I do” to you,

Are you willing to stay human?

That’s the real you!

Never doubt it!

Put on the human you!

And always remember,

Your beauty,

Is worth keeping!

I knew you before you came to be

From the first day I saw you crying from your mother’s womb

I shouted, “yes!

But I still want you

I know you are a warrior

But sometimes you forget that I already fought for you,

Even before you began fighting any battle…

I really desire to have you completely

I want you to stop fighting son.

Stop trying to figure it out on your own

Cause the truth is,

Do you believe I love you?

LOOK AT THE SKY!

(Stop for a moment, look at the sky and listen to the birds…)

Yes!

You are right,

The emptiness in the sky is like a child

Most people think that children are born empty,

But that’s quite debatable you know…

Our lives sometimes look empty

People see us brightening their world like the sky

But they don’t pay much attention…

The sky,

Just like our lives,

Is invaluable.

Within it, it carries countless other heavenly bodies that make life a better place for others

Sometimes it’s all dark and gloomy

Just like life,

And it rains.

But the birds,

In all their beauty and diversity, always enjoy flying in the sky

Because they know that it will always be there for them

Regardless of the changing seasons of life.

Well,

 I don’t know what exactly you’ve seen and heard (when you looked at the sky)

But I know,

Just like the sky,

There is so much beauty and greatness inside you

Sometimes no one will notice it.

But you got to keep on being all you can be, to make your world a better place.

Are you feeling happy?

Let the sun shine on us!

Feeling gloomy?

Let it rain!

But never forget that there is a rainbow even in the rainy days.

Look at the rainbow,

And smile!

Because cloudy days also have an end

Listen to the sweet melody of the birds and sing along

Because there is always a reason to be thankful even on rainy days.

May you always purpose to live hard, when you look at the sky…

Yes!

And listen to the birds.
